Ukrainian football players called on Macron to exclude Russians from the 2024 Olympics
The Ukrainian youth football team appealed to French President Emmanuel Macron, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, French Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera and the organizers of the 2024 Olympic Games over the admission of Russian athletes. This is reported by ua.tribuna.com.
Athletes published an open letter calling for Russia to be removed from the Paris Olympics. In particular, the signatures were given by English Chelsea midfielder Mikhail Mudrik and the entire coaching staff. In their opinion, some neutral Russian athletes who received licenses for the tournament support the CBO.
The Ukrainian national team qualified for the 2024 Olympics football tournament. The Games will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
On December 8, the International Olympic Committee announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Olympic Games. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not be allowed to compete in Paris.
