Bad weather arriving in Italy and protagonist today Saturday 2 December, with strong thunderstorms triggering the weather warning in different regions. The spotlight is mainly on Emilia Romagna: in the region the ‘red alert’ goes off in some areas, orange and yellow alert in other areas. The orange alert is also triggered for Liguria, Tuscany and Lombardy. The yellow alert, between storm risk and hydrogeological risk, concerns a long list of regions: Abruzzo, Campania, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Molise, Trentino Alto Adige, Veneto, Umbria. Emilia Romagna
Red alert in Emilia Romagna for rain and strong winds in particular in the areas of the Reggio Emilia plain and the Po Reggio Emilia plain. Orange alert, however, in the central Emilian mountains, in the Modena plain, in the low/high hills and in the Piacenza-Parma mountains and in the central Emilian hills.
Lombardy
Orange alert in Lombardy due to hydrogeological risk in Valcamonica, in the Bergamo Orobie and in Alta Valtellina. The regional natural risk monitoring functional center has issued, starting from midnight on Saturday 2 December, a yellow alert (ordinary risk) for wind in the Milan area which will continue for the next 24 hours.
Liguria
In Liguria, the orange alert for hydrogeological risk today concerns the Levante sea basins.
Tuscany
In Tuscany, the areas of Serchio-Garfagnana-Lima, Bisenzio and Ombrone Pt are under special surveillance. The Civil Protection reports Lunigiana, Reno, Serchio-Lucca, Versilia. Much of the region is under a yellow warning for thunderstorms.
Lazio
The Lazio regional civil protection agency issued a yellow alert from the early hours of Saturday and for the following 24 hours. The following are expected in Lazio: strong to gale force winds from the western quadrants, mainly from the south-west, with reinforcements of strong gale force on the coastal and mountainous sectors, up to stormy conditions on the Apennine ridges. Strong storms along exposed coasts.
Campania
The Civil Protection of the Campania Region has issued a double weather alert. The first warning is for strong winds from the western quadrants with local gusts and consequent rough seas with possible storm surges affecting the whole of Campania. The second warning is a Yellow weather alert for rain and thunderstorms and relates only to zones 2 and 3 which correspond to the Alto Volturno and Matese, the Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, the Sarno and Picentini mountains. In consideration of strong winds with gusts and wave motion, it is necessary to ensure the correct maintenance of public green areas and mobile or temporary structures exposed to stress.
