Ubisoft recently admitted a technical error was responsible for the appearance of full-screen advertisements in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a popular video game in its series. According to some Reddit users, these ads appeared unexpectedly in the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game, particularly when players accessed the map screen. Fabien Darrigues, spokesperson for Ubisoft, released a statement confirming that some players have encountered pop-up ads while playing certain Assassin’s Creed titles. “This was the result of a technical error that we corrected as soon as we became aware of it,” Darrigues said.

Initially, it was unclear why the game began showing Black Friday pop-up ads to promote Mirage, the latest installment of Assassin’s Creed.
