Valencia, the two faces of the Mooney house
Marco Bezzecchi he is immediately among the protagonists of the Valencia GP, the last race of the 2023 season. Thanks to fifth position yesterday afternoon, the Mooney VR46 driver gains direct access to Q2. A more complicated day for Luca Marini, 17th.
Fast from the first morning shift (where he finished fourth) and despite a violent highside at the start of the session in the afternoon, the Bez he signed a good 1.29.396, a lap time that is worth a delay of just over two tenths from Maverick Viñales. Uphill on Friday for Marini, who was also in the gravel during the afternoon practice and forced to chase. The Marounless there are sensational surprises on the last weekend with Mooney, he will have to go through Q1.
Bezzecchi’s words
“I’m really happy, I managed to be fast straight away and find the feeling on the front again. I rode as I wanted and I am satisfied with both the time and the pace. It’s a shame about the crash, nothing serious, just that the bike started to fly as soon as it hit the gravel. I took a big hit, but without consequences. I have good confidence on the bike and I can do well in the Sprint. This is the most important thing“.
Marini’s words
“A difficult day, in the afternoon I was hoping for better, but with the medium on the back I felt quite good, while on the soft I struggled a lot. I had no grip at the rear and I wasn’t able to be competitive when braking and turning in. I took some risks on the time attack and crashed. I returned to the track with the second bike, with the soft one in front, but it was impossible to ride, especially on the left. Let’s get back to work for FP2“.
