The storm left Congonhas Airport without power; rain is expected to lose intensity over the weekend
The rain left at least 2 dead in the metropolitan region of São Paulo this Friday (3.Nov.2023). The storm knocked down around 100 trees and left neighborhoods and Congonhas Airport without power. The first death was in Osasco, when a wall collapsed due to the rain, according to Lieutenant Roberto Farina, from Civil Defense, on the program Brazil Urgentfrom the broadcaster band.
The 2nd victim died in Santo André, in the ABC Paulista region, in addition to him, two people were injured.
In statement released this Friday afternoon (3.nov), the CGE (Climate Emergency Management Center) stated that the rain should lose intensity and that the “latest meteorological radar images do not indicate areas of heavy rain towards Greater São Paulo”.
The agency also said that there should be no new storms over the weekend and that temperatures should rise again in the region from Wednesday (Nov 8).
O Power360 looked for the Civil Defense of São Paulo for updating the death toll, but has not yet received a response. This report should receive updates.
