The initiative began during the mandate of Waldez Góes, Lula’s current minister, and was created by senator Davi Alcolumbre
The MPF (Federal Public Ministry) unit in Amapá opened an investigation to investigate the state government’s “Mais Visão” surgery program. With the initiative, 104 patients had serious eye infections. The information was released by the news portal Metropolises.
“More Vision” began when Waldez Góes (PDT) was in the position of governor of Amapá. Currently, Góes is Minister of Integration and Regional Development in the president’s government Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
From the beginning, the program had the support of the president of the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission), senator David Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP). Alcolumbre is said to be the “idealizer and enabler” of the initiative, which was used during his electoral campaign.
In recent years, the senator sent parliamentary amendments to maintain the action.
After Góes left the state government, the current governor, Clécio Luís Vieira (Solidarity), continued the program.
UNDERSTAND THE CASE
Portal report Metropolises published on October 23 showed that a group of surgeries carried out by the “Mais Visão” program resulted in an outbreak of endophthalmitis, an infection inside the eye that can be caused by eye surgery, eye injury or infection in the bloodstream.
The symptoms of endophthalmitis are:
- eye pain;
- redness in the eyes; It is
- loss of vision.
On September 4, the program performed 141 surgeries. Of the operated patients, 104 contracted the infection – with 40 having serious complications, such as punctured eyes.
O Power360 sought out the Amapá MPF to confirm the ongoing investigation; the State government, to question whether measures to support patients were taken and whether the program was interrupted after the cases; and minister Waldez Góes and senator Davi Alcolumbre, to comment on the case, but the digital newspaper did not receive any response until the publication of this report.
The space remains open for demonstrations.
