The institutions of the National Alliance for Civil Development Action in Egypt launched the first convoy of aid to Gaza, hours after the Israeli attacks on the Strip, in response to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s call to support the brotherly Palestinian people in their humanitarian crisis.
The first convoy of the National Alliance institutions and the Egyptian Dignified Life Foundation included approximately 120 locomotives carrying a thousand tons of food and meat supplies, 40,000 blankets, 80 tents, more than 50,000 pieces of clothing, and 300,000 packages of medicines and medical supplies.
Preparing the second convoy
In an interview with “Sky News Arabia,” Issam Abdel Rahman, a member of the National Alliance for Civil Development Action, one of the participants in preparing the convoys heading to Gaza, said:
- All coalition institutions are keen to support the Palestinian people with whatever assistance they can provide
- Thousands of volunteers participate in preparing convoys in Cairo and some Egyptian governorates, and a large number of them are present at the Rafah land crossing.
- New food supplies are currently being packed for the people of Gaza, according to their current circumstances.
- Food supplies can be “directly used” without the need for cooking, given the destruction of homes and basic necessities in the Gaza Strip and the presence of people outside their destroyed homes and in more than one field shelter.
Possibility of delayed aid delivery
A member of the National Alliance for Civil and Development Action explains that the new convoys are carefully packaged and packaged in the best possible way due to the possibility of some of them being delayed in arriving in Gaza, similar to the shipments currently parked in front of the Rafah land crossing awaiting entry.
The food carton includes “boxes of beans, cheese, tuna, halva, flour, sugar, and dates,” as well as bottles of water.
The Egyptian activist points out that civil institutions are seeking to collect quantities of antibiotics, medicines, needs for treating fractures and burns, and supplies for operating rooms and intensive and intensive care, in order to meet the needs of the Palestinian side.
Abdul Rahman explains that the caravans also include “essentials” for living that take into account the cold weather, most notably “blankets and heavy clothes.”
The National Alliance for Civil Development Action in Egypt includes the largest 34 associations, foundations, and civil work organizations in the country, such as Hayat Karima, the Egyptian Food Bank, the Good Makers, Life Makers, Orman, Misr Al Khair, Resala, the Coptic Evangelical Organization, and the Abu Al-Enein Foundation.
