The candidate for president of Argentina for the Libertad Avance coalition, Javier Milei, said this Monday (23) that he “will fight to the end to defeat Kirchnerism.”
The presidential candidate, who is competing for the leadership of the Casa Rosada with the current Economy Minister, Sergio Massa, recognized his closeness to former president Mauricio Macri (2015-2019), leader of the center-right political party Together for Change, for which Patricia Bullrich ran for election.
In an interview with the Argentine press, the libertarian stated that Macri’s former Security Minister will have space in his government, if he is elected in November. “If Bullrich wants to join, how can I not join? If she was successful in combating insecurity, we have no problem,” he said.
“We resolve our issues in a tougher way, but the common enemy continues to be Kirchnerism. I invite you to participate, to join me in this fight against Kirchnerism. We will welcome you”, stated the libertarian in reference to the third group with the most votes in these elections, whose candidate, Patricia Bullrich, obtained 23.83% of the votes.
The economist emphasized that he is “there to solve Argentina’s problems, not to carry out a laboratory experiment”, which is why “it is necessary to resort to maximum pragmatism”.
“Two thirds of Argentina want something different from Kirchnerism. If we don’t end Kirchnerism it will be because we are irresponsible,” said Milei, alluding to the other political groups that contested the first round on Sunday (22).
In a radio interview RivadaviaMilei ruled out the possibility of abandoning the second round and compared himself to the protagonist of the film “Gladiator”, saying he was “willing to fight until the end”.
The results of Sunday’s presidential elections showed that there will be a second round between Massa and Milei to choose who will preside over Argentina from December 10 for the period 2023-2027.
