Palmeiras continues to make strides towards trying to win the second consecutive women’s Libertadores championship. On Saturday night (14), the team took no notice of Olimpia, from Paraguay, beating 6-0 and advancing to the semifinals. Amanda Gutierres, Bia Zaneratto (twice each), Sâmia Pryscila and Laís Estevam scored the goals for the São Paulo team, which now faces Atlético Nacional, from Colombia, for a place in the decision. The duel will be held on Tuesday (17). It is worth remembering that the tournament is being held in Colombia.

Playing at the Estádio Metropolitano de Techo, Palmeiras practically resolved the game 30 minutes into the first half. The team opened 3-0, with two goals from Bia Zaneratto and one from Amanda Gutierres. In the second stage, it was up to Ricardo Belli’s team to manage the result and take advantage of opportunities to increase the advantage.
Palmeiras reaches the semifinals with a perfect campaign of four wins in four games, with an incredible 21 goals scored, but if there is any “blemish” on the Alviverde’s record so far, it was caused precisely by the opponents in the semifinal. Palmeiras conceded three goals in the competition, all of them in the hard-fought 4-3 victory over Atlético Nacional at the end of the first phase. In other words, in other games the São Paulo team scored 17 goals without conceding any. The Colombian team reached their place in the top four by beating Universidad de Chile 2-1, also on Saturday (14).

In the other semifinal, we may have a Brazilian duel. The last two clashes of the quarterfinals take place this Sunday (15) and involve other teams from Brazil that defeated their opponents in the first phase. Corinthians, with 100% success, 12 goals scored and none conceded, faces América de Cali, at 5:30 pm, at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium, home of the opposing team. Internacional, which also has a 100% record and 12 goals scored but having conceded two, will face Colo-Colo, from Chile, at 8:30 pm, in the same stadium.
The second semi-final of the Libertadores is scheduled for Wednesday (18) and the title decision will take place on Saturday (21).
