Electricity bill will have green flag for the 16th consecutive month due to the good level of reservoirs
A Aneel (National Electric Energy Agency) confirmed this Friday (July 28, 2023) that the electricity tariff flag will remain green in August. This means that there will be no additional charges on your electricity bill.
The permanence of the green flag is valid for all consumers in the SIN (National Interconnected System) and means the improvement of the levels of the hydroelectric reservoirs, benefited with the rainy season. The storage level of the reservoirs reached 87% on average at the beginning of the dry period (May to November).
The green flag has been in force since April 2022, reaching the 16th consecutive month without additional charge due to the favorable conditions for power generation in the country.
According to the general director of Aneel, Sandoval Feitosa, “the announcement of the green flag confirms the projections made, still in 2022, that the year 2023 would not have an increase in the tariff due to the activation of the flags”.
“It is important for companies to reduce costs and to bring more comfort to families’ domestic budgets”he said.
The agency’s expectation is that the scenario will be maintained until the end of the year, based on the available data that allow the updating of forecasts for activating the tariff flags.
