The Sampdoria club proposed a plea bargain accepted by the public prosecutor’s office and was in fact duly registered for the next Serie B tournament: a technical problem had also influenced the delay and the club is confident that this element will be taken into consideration
– GENOA
Sampdoria was referred by the federal prosecutor (with a document dated July 3) for the “failure to pay, within the deadline of last May 30 – reads the note – , part of the Irpef withholdings (equal to over 995 thousand euros ) and INPS contributions (for an amount of one million 669 thousand euros) relating to the fees due to members in the first quarter of 2023”. The notice of conclusion of the investigations was served to two members of the BoD currently in office, Gianni Panconi and Alberto Bosco, respectively managing director and pro tempore legal representative of the Sampdoria club, who since December 2021 (together with the president Lanna and the vice president Romei, the latter who resigned a few days ago) had withstood the very complicated management of the Sampdoria club with a thousand sacrifices.
DIRECT LIABILITY
—
Hence the risk of a possible minus four at the start of the next Serie B tournament, of which two points relating to salaries and another two relating to the tax part, even if in the end the penalty should be less. Obviously Sampdoria is also called directly into question. Attention, however: the non-payment relates to May, but then by June the club regularized its position, so much so that registration for the championship took place regularly. Sampdoria had negotiated this last irregularity before the federal prosecutor’s office, arranging its position. Among other things, a technical problem had also weighed on the non-payment of salaries which had caused the operation to be postponed to a few days after the deadline. Hence, now, the hope of the Corte Lambruschini company to reduce the penalty to a minimum.
HOT DAYS
—
Those at the end of May had been the decisive and tense days which then decreed, precisely on the evening of 30 May, the definitive handover from the old to the new ownership by Andrea Radrizzani and Matteo Manfredi. At that moment, however, there was not the necessary liquidity in hand, so much so that even the advance of the parachute for the relegation granted on an extraordinary basis had in any case proved to be insufficient in itself to honor the financial deadlines of that period. But this had seemed, however, the lesser evil, faced with the risk of bankruptcy and a restart from the lower leagues. The positive aspect of the story prevailed. Meanwhile, the owners and the technical area are trying to burn time to set up a competitive team in record time to immediately try to climb back to Serie A (meeting and departure for retirement are scheduled for next week).
