The Federal Consumer Attorney (Profeco) has carried out a detailed study in order to determine what is the best brand of milk available in the mexican market.
Cow’s milk is a fundamental food in the diet of families, since it provides quality protein, calcium and other essential nutrients for the organism.
After evaluating a total of 20 products, including 17 cow’s milk brands and 3 combined dairy products, Profeco has revealed that the León brand is positioned as the best option, thanks to its outstanding relationship between quality and price.
The study, carried out at the National Consumer Laboratory and published by the Consumer Magazine, focused on the quality and deficiencies of dairy products available in the Mexican market.
For this, regulations such as NOM-002-SCFI-2011, NOM-051-SCFI/SSA 1-2010, NOM-155-SCFI-2012, NOM-183-SCFI-2012, NOM-243-SSA 1-2012, were used. 2010 and NOM-086-SSA 1-1994, in order to guarantee quality and compliance with specifications.
According to the results obtained in the various tests, León milk stands out for offering a significant amount of protein, with 9.23 grams per liter, as well as 12.45 grams of carbohydrates and a small additional amount of fat compared to other brands tested. In addition, its price is attractive, since each liter of León milk costs 25 pesos.
Profeco highlights that cow’s milk provides an important nutritional contribution for health. This dairy contains high-quality protein, essential fats, and fast-absorbing carbohydrates. Likewise, it is a source of vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin D and group B vitamins, as well as minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium.
By knowing the relationship between quality and price of the different brands, consumers will also be able to take care of their wallet, since some brands of milk are more expensive and provide fewer nutrients. (Read the complete PROFECO study here).
