The official review embargo deadline for the movie Super Mario Bros. is over, and unfortunately it looks like the movie is going to be pretty divisive, at least among critics.
Although the score is fluctuating a bit, Rotten Tomatoes shows a score ranging from 48% and the 51% at the time of publication. This is sure to change throughout the day as more scores are added, but even so, it’s not a very auspicious start for the film.
For a film to be considered “Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, it needs to achieve a score of 75% or higher by averaging specialized reviews. If the movie starts hanging around fifty%it seems very unlikely that the critic score will reach that threshold.
It’s worth mentioning that the audience score is completely different than the critics’ score, and we won’t see that number until the movie is officially released on April 5, 2023.
