Donbass resident Anna Ereshko on Tuesday, April 4, told Izvestia correspondent Yegor Kildibekov how she gave birth under shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Krasny Liman.
Now the woman with the child lives in safety. She said that her son still flinches at loud noises.
According to Ereshko, they spent a month and a half in the basement.
“Of course, we experienced something that no one would wish. It’s calm now. <…> And then it was very scary. These arrivals, it’s all very scary. And even when there are no shops, nothing. It’s good there – the neighbors brought everything. Porridge in bottles was warmed under the arm, ”the woman noted.
The woman showed the journalist pictures from the basement, which show bare brick walls and two mattresses. Then the boy’s mother showed the consequences of a strike by Ukrainian troops in one of the apartments. As a result of the shelling, the balcony was destroyed there. In the room where Ereshko lived, the windows were broken.
Earlier, on March 23, Irina Turova, a resident of Artemovsk (the Ukrainian name is Bakhmut), evacuated by Russian troops, said that the Ukrainian military destroyed an entire residential area of Stupka in just three days, destroying all the houses during the retreat from there. She also noted that, according to an employee of the Wagner group who took the refugees out, Ukrainian militants shot the residents who remained in the houses from a tank, and threw grenades into basements with hiding civilians.
The woman was able to count about 130 mines that exploded near the basement, where she was hiding from shelling.
In February, a pensioner with three young grandchildren told Izvestia how they were forced to flee Ukrainian troops to Lugansk. She and her grandchildren traveled to the city by tractor. I had to drive along dilapidated roads for almost a day, and when crossing the fields, shells flew overhead.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a special operation to protect Donbass, whose residents refused to recognize the results of the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine. The decision to start it was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the shelling of Ukrainian troops.
