Two silvers for Colombia in this edition
On the first turn, Yeni Arias (54 kg) gave Colombia the first silver medal in this edition of the World Cup. The Risaralda League boxer fell to Huang Hsiao-wen, from the Chinese Taipei delegation.
Colombia sent nine boxers to India, where nearly 400 boxers from 74 countries registered, figures that exceed those of the 2022 Istanbul World Cups.
Until this edition, Colombia had only won two medals -both silver- in the women’s boxing world championships, led by Jessica Paila Caicedo, in India 2018, and Valencia, last year in Istanbul.
Colombia has only had one amateur world champion: Miguel María ‘Máscara’ Maturana from Cartagena, who won the title on November 18, 1981 at the World Cups in Montreal (Canada).
