Deschamps responds to controversy over Benzema: 'It's the past'

He France coach Didier Deschampsavoided this Thursday referring to the criticism leveled against him by the Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and assured that this player “is the past”.

“I have already recounted what happened (in the past World Cup), it is a closed matter, which belongs to the past. For me the important thing is the future, they are the two games ahead of us with these 23 players”, said the coach during the presentation of his first list of summoned of the year.

Benzema treated Deschamps as a “liar” and a “clown” through social networksafter the coach assured in an interview that the Real Madrid player voluntarily left the French concentration in Qatar after being diagnosed with an injury.

The striker, who promised explanations “for the people”, did not want to refer to the case last night after the Champions League match against Liverpool in which he got a pass to the quarterfinals.

“Nothing to say,” said the player when asked about the relationship with Deschamps.

The footballer’s entourage has been letting it be understood that the player wanted to stay and that he could have played the last matches of the World Cup, but that it was Deschamps who asked him to leave the concentration.
