The Assistant Undersecretary for the Welfare and Capacity Building Sector at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Amna Al-Dahhak Al-Shamsi, revealed that the percentage of females enrolled in higher education institutions has reached (63%) of the total number of students enrolled in those institutions.
Al-Dahhak said during a remote discussion session organized by the General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education in Abu Dhabi on the occasion of International Women’s Day, entitled “Arab Women: Pioneering Societal Contributions.” Of the total number of students, the percentage of women holding a doctorate from state universities reached (55%) of the total number of students, while the percentage reached (57%) for master’s programs, (61%) for bachelor’s programs, and (59%) for higher diploma programs, in addition to High rates of enrollment of qualified female citizens in the Ministry of Education, in addition to their work in the fields of education and management of state schools and universities, which confirms the distinguished reality of women in the state.
She affirmed the Ministry of Education’s keenness to include the concepts of women’s rights, gender equality and balance within the general framework of the state’s curricula, as she indicated that these efforts aim primarily at highlighting the role of women in the development of thought, culture, science and building civilization, and deepening students’ understanding of issues of gender equality and balance. In all fields, by emphasizing women’s rights to education as a principle and a basic tool for achieving sustainable development, and emphasizing women’s right to exercise their political and social rights.

For his part, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Khalifa Award for Education, Dr. Suad Al-Suwaidi, stressed the importance of this session and its role in shedding light on the distinction and leadership witnessed by Arab women in various parts of the Arab world, noting that women have always formed a fundamental pillar in the thought of rational leadership in the country.
