Yes yes yes, ladies and gentlemen: the new Lambo V12 has become a gem.
Large, huge and gigantic internal combustion engines are no longer allowed. That is really not possible in 2023. Everything must be electric or at least electrified. Ai. It is extra sour for a brand like Lamborghini, because the combustion engine is part of the experience. Yes, a Tesla Model S Plaid will undoubtedly be faster, but a Lamborghini will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.
The Lamborghini Aventador is now out of production. This has put an end to an era of thick twelve-cylinder without electrical support. That last addition is important, because look what we have here to have: the new Lambo V12!
How much power does it have?
And yes, it is a real V12. The stroke volume is 6.5 liters, so certainly not modest. However, the weight is. The twelve-burner weighs 218 kilograms, about the weight of my sister before she starts her breakfast.
The power of the V12 is also known: 813 hp! That comes in at 9,250 rpm! The maximum torque is 725 Nm at 6,750. Indeed, this engine has no turbos.
However, there is electrical power to support. The Lambo V12 gets not one, not two, but no fewer than three electric motors. Two on the front axle, one on the rear axle. System power is over 1,000 horsepower.
The V12 is positioned lengthwise and mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission. This marks the end of an era, as the Aventador was one of the last cars to feature a single-clutch sequential transmission.
DCT for the first time
One reason for that was always the weight. The DCT automatic transmission of the new Aventador (model code LB744) weighs 193 kg. That’s less than what the DCT in the Lamborghini Huracàn weighs. According to Lamborghini, the new transmission is also significantly faster.
Charging the battery takes half an hour. Not because you can charge so quickly, but the battery is only 3.8 kWh. Special: you have four-wheel drive, but there is no axle forward. Oh, and there’s no reverse gear either. The car always does this with the front wheels and therefore the electric motor.
