Members of the regional government and representatives of Ukrainian collectives and NGOs gather to demand an end to the conflict
Ukrainian families who arrived in the Region as a result of the Russian invasion of their country will begin to receive direct financial aid of 400 euros per month and an additional 100 euros for each dependent minor announced six months ago next March. The Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Equality announced this Friday that next month more than 60 families who lack economic resources will begin to benefit from the benefit for a maximum period of six months.
The money allocated is 1,300,000 euros in total contributed by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, a contribution that, according to regional government sources, could be increased depending on demand.
Since the application period opened, at the beginning of this month of February, the regional government has received a total of 170 applications. Of these, 62 have already been approved. The rest will receive it as soon as they correct the documentation presented, informed the Community.
The Minister of Social Policy, Family and Equality, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, stressed that “for the regional government it is very important that people from Ukraine, as a result of the war, are well cared for and have a great reception in our region.”
This line of aid is added to another set up by the Ministry when the war in Ukraine began. The regional government allocated 685,000 euros, which were consigned to 18 municipalities and two associations of social services in the Region, to help them financially in caring for the Ukrainian population and reinforcing the basic benefits of primary care social services.
On the occasion of the first anniversary of the start of the Russian invasion in Ukraine, the regional government observed a minute of silence this Friday, an act attended by representatives of International Protection entities that work with the displaced Ukrainians, various NGOs and associations of Ukrainians in the region.
“One year of unreason and cruelty against Ukraine has been completed,” recalled the Chief Executive, Fernando López Miras, who stressed that the Community is “a land of solidarity that has turned to helping the population” displaced by the attack by the Army of Vladimir Putin.
The regional president recalled that the Community has already welcomed more than 5,300 Ukrainians, including 1,800 minors enrolled in regional schools.
Specifically, the total number of temporary protections already amounts to 5,335. Two out of three correspond to women, about 3,500 in total, and about 1,900 to men. In addition, about 2,000 are under 18 years of age.
Members of Murcia Acoge, Cepaim, Accem, Red Cross, Columbares, Unicef and Cáritas participated in the minute of silence, as well as the Association of the Ukraine of the Region of Murcia, the New Generation Association and the No Seas Indiferente Association. After the act, the president of the Community held a meeting with various Ukrainian citizens residing in the Region.
Minute of silence celebrated in Lorca.
Similar signs of support were registered in various town halls in the Region of Murcia. The Government delegate in the Region, José Vélez, participated in a minute of silence held at the gates of the Lorca City Hall, together with the mayor of the municipality, Diego José Mateos, and members of the municipal corporation to cry out against the “unjustifiable attack by Putin».
