The investigation into the death of 16-year-old Esmeralda Richiez in the Dominican Republic continues to progress. Recently, Judge Francis Yojary Reyes Diloné He ordered a year of pretrial detention for John Kelly Martinez, the teacher who had been arrested for violent rape and homicide of a minor.
The events took place on February 12, when the young woman went out to the beach in the company of her Physical Education and Mathematics teacher, the teacher’s cousin – named Rubén Morillo Martínez – and three other friends, also minors.
The group left aboard a vehicle towards Macao beach, located 28 kilometers from the teenager’s house, according to the outlet. CNÑ.
As is known, the young woman had “strong vaginal bleeding” when they left the beach, so on the way home they made several stops, including one at a gas station, where security cameras saw the teenager get off car with John Kelly Martinez. The owner of the place pointed out that she used the bathroom leaving it “bloody on all sides”.
In the morning when I got up, I found my daughter lying there. She bled to my daughter, she lost all her blood. she was lying in the bathroom
Around midnight, the young woman returned home. However, neither she nor the group that accompanied her alerted the parents to what was happening. According to her mother’s account, the young woman assured her that nothing was wrong and that she had just gotten her period.
The parents accompanied her to her room but, the next morning, they found her dead in the bathroom of the house. “In the morning when I got up, I found my daughter lying on her. She bled to my daughter, she lost all her blood. She was lying in the bathroom, full of blood, ”she told CNÑ Isabel Martínez, her mother.

“We consider a death of violent cause and in an indeterminate way, with the findings and the studies carried out up to now, pending the results of toxicological studies, for which we suggest a thorough police-judicial investigation”, would be the preliminary conclusions of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences.
In addition, they are awaiting the results of some toxicological tests, investigating the possibility that the professor has introduced pills into the young woman’s drink without her consent.
At first it had been speculated that the professor had induced her to have an abortion; however, the autopsy dismissed that version.
The cause of death would have been the “lacerations, abrasions and bruises that caused her death, due to vaginal tearing, with acute severe external and internal bleeding and hemorrhagic shock as the terminal mechanism of death” that John Kelly Martínez caused the victim “voluntarily” after having had a “violent sexual encounter”, according to the Public Ministry and the results of the autopsy.
