Vice President of the National Agency for the Information Society in Korea, and head of the Korea data dam project, Yoon Suk Koo, confirmed that data-dependent economies are developing at a tremendous speed, noting that Korea has allocated 3 data platforms, after it faced two challenges against the background of the outbreak of the “Covid 19” pandemic; the first is Overcoming the economic crisis resulting from the pandemic, and the second is the need to find a solution to benefit from the fossil fuel revolution.
He said during the “Data and Artificial Intelligence… Who Creates the Other” session, which was held as part of the activities of the introductory day of the World Government Summit: “In this context, the Korean government announced its new deal in 2020, which includes 3 things: networks, artificial intelligence, and data; but the most important thing is It is data, so the government has developed a basic and pioneering project for its governance, especially since 80% of the development of (data dam) services revolves around data.
He pointed out that many companies suffer from a data crisis due to the budget deficit, pointing out that in order to establish a data system in a country; Data provision should be improved by inviting public institutions to open their data legally, as well as evaluating the management of official data by institutions every year, and then providing data of various types.
Yoon Suk Koo called for the need to improve access to data by launching several platforms for different types of data, linking platforms and making data flow through them, stressing the importance of improving data quality, especially since everything is related to its quality; If we have a lot of data and its quality is poor, then it is useless, but an agency must be established that is responsible for the quality of the data on an ongoing basis.
He pointed to the importance of preparing data for training with artificial intelligence techniques, so that 70% of it depends on artificial intelligence, and 30% on technology coming from artificial intelligence, revealing that there is a trend to enhance cooperation between the UAE and South Korea in this field.
