This year the Ferrari 458 Speciale celebrates its tenth anniversary. The 4.5-liter V8 engine still sings up to 9,000 rpm. Some people think it’s perfect as it is, but others think it’s a pity that it was never delivered with a manual gearbox. Fortunately, there are handy enthusiasts who convert the Speciale into a version with a manual gearbox.
A tuner from Miami named Modificata is behind the switch. The flippers behind the wheel and the old gearbox have been removed from the Ferrari for this. It is replaced by a six-speed manual gearbox in H-pattern and of course a third pedal. There is no cover around the poker so you can see exactly where the poker is going. A gated shifterSo.

In addition, Modificata removes a ‘substantial’ part of the weight of the Speciale. How many kilos and how they do that, the tuner does not say. With 1,395 kilos, the 458 Speciale is not a heavy boy in itself. The V8 engine produces 605 hp and 540 Nm. With this, the 458 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds. The top speed is 325 km/h.
“This project has really been a labor of love for us. And make no mistake, it took a lot of time. For all the obstacles we’ve encountered on the road, there’s no better reward than the 9,000 rpm Italian symphony and the metallic click-clack of the gated poker,” the tuner writes under the video. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Below you can see the Ferrari 458 Speciale with manual gearbox in action.
