21 laps of the Barcelona circuit certainly cannot represent a sufficient basis for drawing an assessment of the first official outing on the track of a 2023 single-seater, but there was certainly a lot of curiosity among Formula 1 enthusiasts for the first concrete taste of the new vintage, represented from the filming day organized by Alfa Romeo. On the Circuit de Catalunya, the Hinwil team made the baptism of the asphalt for the new one C43, run in for a total of a hundred kilometers by the pair of team owners, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu.
Today, on a technical level, it was a fundamental one shakedown and the response that comes from the Alfa-Sauber box seems to be positive. In front of the technical director Jan Monchaux, under whose supervision the C43 was designed and developed, the car underwent the first tests and routine checks, to guarantee the functionality of all systems. Fortunately, everything went smoothly. Tomorrow we repeat, with a second filming day which will involve, in addition to the Bottas-Zhou duo, also the third driver Théo Pourchaire.
“The debut of the C43 is a crucial moment of our season – underlined the French engineer – because it marks the beginning of our activity on the track and shows how close the season is. Today was the day important to ensure that everything was in placenot only with the car but also with the team in general, in view of what will be a very important start to the championship”. In fact, the team will now have to organize itself for the trip to Bahrain, where the official pre-season tests are scheduled from 23 to 25 February and where, above all, the World Championship will start on 5 March. “We have to thank everyone who worked on the car and of course also our Ferrari partners– added Monchaux again – for bringing us here. We are ready for testing and can’t wait to get to work in Sakhir“.
“It’s a great moment to see the C43 first out on track – echoed him Alessandro Good students – on an important day in which we created a lot of material for our partners. This is the final moment of a long process during which our car has been conceived, designed, created and assembled, and we are proud of the journey we have completed. This was possible thanks to the commitment, dedication and passion of everyone who works at our headquarters in Hinwil and of our technical partners, first and foremost Ferrari. We are aware of the challenges ahead, but we are confident that, with the same attitude and hard work, we will succeed and take it one step further.”.
