Ahmed Aqil, advisor to the governor of the interim Yemeni capital, Aden, confirmed that the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen strengthens the ability of Yemenis, especially in Aden, to stand firm in the face of “Houthi” terrorism, appreciating the support provided by the UAE and Saudi Arabia, considering the two countries as support and strength for Aden and its residents, at the same time. Aqil explained, in exclusive statements to Al-Ittihad, that the Houthi militia controls the revenues of aviation and communications with the international key, and causes the impoverishment of the Yemeni people. The governor’s advisor stressed the need to enable the interim capital from the sovereign resources of the Yemeni state, so that it can fill the vacuum until the capital, Sana’a, is restored from the “Houthis” terrorism, pointing out that Aden does not have resources that can be distributed to the governorates.
Aqil pointed out that the governorate suffered, like the rest of the governorates, in terms of security, from the terrorism of the “Houthi” militia and its criminal practices, but it is now considered one of the most secure Yemeni governorates, with the support of the Arab coalition countries, and is not directly affected by the terrorist acts directed by the “Houthis”, and they are constantly working to obstruct work with it.
The governor’s advisor explained that Aden has only 20 percent of the resources so far, which impedes important work in Yemen in general, pointing out that the governorate’s status as a temporary capital requires the provision of more funds, because the lack of resources affects the availability of basic services for Yemenis.
He pointed out that Aden was affected by the global economic crisis, and by the conflict in Ukraine.
The governorate of Aden is of great importance regionally and globally, since it was considered the temporary capital of Yemen after the “Houthi” militias took control of Sana’a, through which governance is administered, as the government and the presidency are based in it.
Aqeel said that the manifestations of development in the governorate have been clear recently, and it is also witnessing a renaissance in the education sector, building schools and infrastructure in general, and streets have been paved, and sewage networks are being rehabilitated, and huge projects funded by international organizations have started, and a water project funded by the High Commission. for refugee and immigration affairs.
The Yemeni government affirms its commitment to coordination and cooperation with all international, regional and international organizations, in accordance with international and local laws and agreements regulating humanitarian work, based on its responsibilities towards the Yemeni people.
It also calls on international organizations to move their main offices to the interim capital, Aden, and to use the Central Bank – Aden, to transfer and deposit funds allocated for humanitarian projects and programs in Yemen, and to get out of the cycle of complexities and obstacles that the terrorist “Houthi” militia places in front of these organizations in Sana’a and the rest of the non-governmental governorates. liberated.
This comes as the terrorist “Houthi” militia in Sana’a continues to put more obstacles and obstacles in front of the work of international organizations, which have greatly limited the implementation of humanitarian projects and greatly exacerbated the humanitarian situation of Yemenis in those provinces.
