President Volodymyr Zelensky allowed the end of the conflict in Ukraine in 2023
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky suggested when the end of the conflict in the country will come. He spoke about this in a video message, which wrote down for Politico.
The end of the crisis
Zelensky called possible terms for the end of the conflict in Ukraine and admitted that this would happen in 2023. In addition, Politico recognized the Ukrainian leader as the most influential person in Europe.
I believe that Ukrainians will also be the most influential next year, but already in peacetime
The journalists of the publication added that the recognition of Zelensky as the most influential in Europe indicates the internal problems of the country. “This means that any internal problems of Ukraine — widespread corruption, a weak economy and social differences between Ukrainian speakers and Russian speakers — are ignored,” they noted.
In July, Zelensky said that Kyiv had a chance to stop the conflict before the end of 2022. He clarified that he considers this possible with the supply of powerful weapons from partners and with the accompanying luck. “We can achieve a lot before the end of the year and stop this war. At least fighting,” Zelensky said.
Possibility of negotiation
In mid-November, the Ukrainian president assessed the possibility of negotiations with Russia and denied his refusal to dialogue. He stressed that the most important requirement of Kyiv to Moscow is the restoration of justice. However, Russia did not make such statements.
I didn’t close the door. I said, we will be ready to talk with Russia, but with another Russia – one that will be truly ready for peace
On November 8, Zelensky announced the conditions for negotiations with Russia. He called on the Russian side to compensate all losses caused as a result of the special military operation, restore the integrity of the country’s territory, show respect for the UN Charter, and punish war criminals. In addition, Zelensky demanded a guarantee that the special operation would not be repeated.

At the same time, back in September, the Ukrainian president officially announced that he refused to negotiate with Moscow.
Russia’s position
On December 6, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that there were no prospects for negotiations with Ukraine. According to him, the Russian authorities do not see them at the moment.
However, earlier in the Kremlin it was repeatedly noted that Russia considers diplomacy the most preferable means of achieving the goals of the special operation. Peskov explained that Moscow needed to continue its actions on the territory of Ukraine, since dialogue was impossible due to the position of Ukraine.
How can we now discuss possible agreements if the other side does not even want to talk to us? Well we’ll wait
At the end of October, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his readiness for negotiations with Ukraine. He stressed that Kyiv decided to refuse dialogue with Moscow. “The question is not about us,” Putin said. Later, the head of state urged to wait for negotiations of “good will” of Ukraine.
Russia’s special operation in Donbass began on February 24. It was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The country’s actions were a response to requests for military assistance from the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
On September 21, Putin announced the start of partial mobilization in the regions of the country. The head of the Ministry of Defense of the country, Sergei Shoigu, specified that it is planned to call up 300,000 reservists in total. On October 28, Shoigu reported to Putin on the completion of partial mobilization.
