Three years after its release on PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 passed its peak of active concurrent players yesterday. As indicated by SteamDB, Red Dead Redemption 2 recorded yesterday afternoon 66,492 concurrent players. The previous peak was reached right after the game’s launch on Steam on December 26, 2019, with 55,000 players.
The number of concurrent players it has risen steadily every day since November 22nd. On that day, SteamDB reported a peak of around 20,000 users, while on November 23rd it jumped to 29,700 users, which gave way to 41,600 players on November 24th. On the day of Black Friday, however, it rose to 49,000, but then it reached almost 60,000 on November 26, with 66,400 users on November 27, 2022.
The game is currently 67% off in the Steam Autumn Sale and this has certainly helped to increase the number of users of Red Dead Redemption 2. The success is also notable because the multiplayer mode of the game, Red Dead Online, has been abandoned by Rockstar Games. Of course the already available content can still be used and new players may have a lot to play with in the online mode, but the lack of expected novelties is a major fact in this type of game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online have achieved total sales of 46 million units, while the entire series can boast over 70 million copies sold.
