A stereotype that is confirmed is often roguish. As in the case of this BMW M4 driver…
Stereotypes in the car world, they once seemed more prevalent than they are now. The non-blinking BMW driver, the sticky Audi driver, the cigar-smoking Jaaaaaag driver, the GTI cap, you know it. It all still exists, but in the new car world forum wars where such stereotypes were often used are a bit rarer. If they’re still around, it’s often about Teslas.
Nevertheless, drivers of fat Germans are often still seen as ‘asos’. It’s a bit of a case of confirmation bias. Countless drivers of such cars abide by the rules. However, the few ruin it for the rest. And a BMW M3 that is misbehaving is just a little more noticeable than a Toyota Aygo.
This post is not about a neat rule follower in a fat BMW M4. Luke Desmaris collects parking tickets as if they are all the Pokemon he wants to collect. The Briton has collected £7,000 in fines in the past year. However, he himself is not so sad about it. In fact, he sees it very differently, with a nice example of ‘rethinking’:
Only poor people care about fines. I don’t see it as parking fines, but as VIP parking close to home.
Luke Desmaris, M4 driver
Luke is 27 years old but says he earns a ton a month trading stocks. His time is therefore valuable, he believes and he saves time parking close to where he needs to be. He does not experience it himself as if he is doing something ‘wrong’:
I’m not blocking anyone’s road and I’m not doing anything wrong apart from the rules that don’t allow you to park at a yellow line. In my view I am not doing anything wrong.
Luke Desmaris, don’t like rules
Luke shared his personal experience in a video on TikTok that has received millions of views. Well, stereotypes, they still exist. Beautiful.
