Yet another gaffe in front of the microphones for Joe Biden: the American president speaks at a press conference at the White House and in celebrating Diwali, a holiday in India, he misses the pronunciation of the new British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who has Indian origins. Biden described his rise as a revolutionary breakthrough, with a nod of surprise at the fact that the premier belongs to the Conservative party. “Rashee Sanook” is the wrong name by which he referred to him. Karine Jean-Pierre, spokesperson for the White House, also mispronounced his name but then corrected herself.
“A groundbreaking milestone, and it matters”

Rishi Sunak, 42, of Indian descent, a Brexit supporter and former Chancellor of the Exchequer (Finance Minister) under Boris Johnson, has been heralded as the new leader of the majority Conservative Party in Westminster. In addition to being the first head of the government of the kingdom of Indian ethnic roots, he is also the first of the Hindu faith. His rival, Penny Mordaunt, withdrew from the race at 10 Downing Street at the last minute.
