Benefit will be valid from 6 am to 8 pm; São Paulo government reinforced its bus fleet for Sunday (Oct 30)
The City of São Paulo announced this Monday (24.Oct.2022) that it will release the free pass in municipal transport next Sunday (30.Oct.2022), in the 2nd round of elections. The benefit will be valid from 6 am to 8 pm.
The decision comes after the councilor Erika Hilton (Psol) to file an action asking for the gratuity (intact – 201 KB). On Friday (21.Oct.2022), the MP-SP (State Public Prosecutor’s Office) was in favor of the request.
“Victory! There will be a free pass in SP! After our legal action, taken over by the MP-SP and the Public Defender’s Office and strong mobilization of civil society, the city hall of SP retreated and will have a free pass in the 2nd round of the elections”, celebrated Erika on her Twitter profile.
Reinforcement in the fleet
SP voters will have a fleet of 6,858 buses circulating through the streets of São Paulo in the 2nd round. It is equivalent to the total number of vehicles that circulate on Saturdays and represents about 2,000 more units (41%) on the streets, compared to normal Sundays.
