It is clear that the premiere of the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been a success, and because of this, the CD Projekt Red video game received a second wind that translates into acceptable sales. To this is added that there is already a DLC on the way and a sequel that was not expected, especially due to the poor acceptance that the work had at its launch. And given the popularity of this Studio Trigger anime, there seems to be no chance of a second season. This was clarified by Satoru Honma, director of CD Projekt Red in its Japanese division. He mentioned that he really liked working with the animation group, but thought of this project as something unique. Here’s his comment: Personally, we’d like to continue working with Japanese studios to produce more anime in the future, in part because we’ve received such good feedback. Just to be clear, though, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was planned as a stand-alone work, so there’s no ‘we’re working on Season 2 in the background. Even if we can do more anime in the future, I don’t know if it would be Season 2 or something completely different. Given this, Honma clarifies that they are grateful to the animation studio, after all it helped a lot to give the video game a second wind. Clarifying that they hope to continue working with them. However, it may be a completely different Cyberpunk story, not tied to the events we saw in the series. Remember that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is available on Netflix. Via: Famitsu
Editor’s note: The truth is that it is a very entertaining anime, and although another season is expected, at least they are sincere in saying that they are not promising anything. For those who have not yet taken a look at it, it is completely worth it. The post Cyberpunk: Edgerunners would not have more seasons first appeared on Atomix.
