Cláudio Magnavita, owner of the newspaper, promises “opposition like never before” if Lula is elected
The newspaper Morning mail, from Rio de Janeiro, should start circulating in the Federal District just before the 2nd round of elections, scheduled for October 30th. Initially, the print run will be 10,000 daily copies.
The publication was resumed in 2019, but has no relation to the original vehicle, launched in 1901 and closed during the military dictatorship (1964-1985).
the owner of Morning mailCláudio Magnavita, told the Power 360 that, unlike other vehicles, the newspaper does not “systematic opposition” to the president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
“The newspaper has very clear positions and does not deceive the reader. It’s a newspaper. In fact, you displease the government as much at times as those who are against it. What we don’t do is systematic opposition to Bolsonaro, as others do”declared Magnavita.
The president even recommended the publication on more than one occasion and granted an interview to the newspaper’s channel on YouTube.
Magnavita said that if the former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva win the elections, “will see opposition like never before“. However, he believes that the PT will be defeated.
the director of Morning mail also stated that the newspaper can be classified as “anti-janja” –the sociologist and wife of the former president, Rosângela Silva– but not as an anti-PT. He supported the candidacy of André Ceciliano (EN) for the Senate by Rio de Janeiro.
Magnavita claims to be the newspaper’s sole shareholder and described the structure as “lean”. With his arrival in Brasília, he hopes to be able to cover politically with greater proximity.
“It is possible to close the newspaper at 2 am and make the newspaper circulate. At 6:00 in the morning, it’s already on everyone’s doorstep, because Brasilia’s logistics are very easy”he said.
The graphic of Morning mail in the federal capital is in the testing phase.
