it will be so strong from the military point of view that the Russian army will be annihilated
“Any nuclear attack against Ukraine will generate a response; it will not be a nuclear response, but it will be so strong from a military point of view that the russian army will be annihilatedBorrell said.
Also, Stoltenberg’s warning was; “There will be severe consequences if Russia uses any kind of nuclear weapons against Ukraine and this is something that Russia knows, something that the allies have passed on to Russia.”
The NATO secretary-general avoided giving details of how he would respond, but stressed that “even any use of small nuclear weapons would drastically change the nature of the conflict because Russia would have crossed a very important line.”

The statements were made in the framework of a press conference, at the end of the two-day meeting that NATO defense ministers have held in Brussels.
After the Russian government decided to annex four territories of Ukraine, Putin warned that Russia will have the right to use all the resources at its disposal to defend itself, in a clear reference to atomic weapons.

There will be severe consequences if Russia uses any kind of nuclear weapons
“We take this threat seriously,” Stoltenberg referred, to the warnings to use nuclear weapons that Putin mentioned since the invasion of Ukraine began on February 24. However, they rule out that NATO would respond with a nuclear attack if the Kremlin crossed that line.
He also reiterated that NATO has not perceived any “sign that Russia has changed its nuclear posture, but we monitor it 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We have very good intelligence information,” and explained that “we have monitored Russia’s nuclear facilities for decades.
Formally, NATO has yet to threaten to use its nuclear arsenal to respond to Russia, since Ukraine is not a member of the military alliance and is therefore not covered by its self-defense clause.
Despite this, NATO will carry out next week the “Steadyfast Noon”, a nuclear deterrent exercise that takes place each October and typically includes training flights with dual-capable fighter jets as well as conventional aircraft backed by surveillance and refueling aircraft, and uses no real weapons.
