So far neither the American nor the Russian side have taken “initiatives” for a possible bilateral meeting between presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden. This was assured by the spokesman of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, during a press point, according to reports from the Tass agency.
“As far as I know, neither the Russian nor the American side have taken steps to organize bilateral contacts at the highest level,” said Peskov, who did not comment on the question of the possible topics of the negotiations between the two presidents. “Let’s leave it to the political scientists – he replied – so far we can only say that there have been no initiatives either on our part or on the part of the Americans”.
Peskov also defined as ” provocative ” what he called ” the nuclear rhetoric ” which ” sees Western heads of state engaged every day ”. In his daily press conference Peskov “expressed regret” about this. Furthermore, he added, the Kremlin hoped that the G7 would hold the Kiev regime responsible for the crimes committed.
In the Russian Federation at the moment there is no planned new mobilization of citizens to participate in the special military operation in Ukraine, Peskov also said, commenting on the statements of some governors who would receive assignments for new mobilizations.
Yesterday, the governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, said that he had received a new mobilization order and that the municipal commissions for the bill had already begun to implement it.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had already signed a decree on partial mobilization in the Russian Federation. The mobilization activities began on 21 September. Defense Minister Sergej Shoigu reported that 300,000 reservists would be recalled as part of a partial mobilization.
Lavrov
Russia does not rule out the possibility of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the next G20 and will evaluate the proposal if it arrives, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said yesterday in an interview with Rossiya 1 TV broadcaster. Russia, he added, always welcomes any proposal for a conversation aimed at achieving peace.
