actress and singer Erika Villalobos, takes on a new challenge in one of his great passions: theater. She will do it in the play Da Capo, which will bring together the choral ensemble Voces del Sol, directed by the teacher Claudia Rheineck, which will be presented this October 15 and 16 at the Gran Teatro Nacional.
“It is a beautiful show, complete that the family will be able to enjoy very much”, says Villalobos, who will get into the skin of an Amazonian girl, an 80-year-old woman, a she-wolf and a composer. And although the review indicates that Da Capo is a story inspired by Splendorthe actress emphasizes that the show goes further.
At Da Capo they propose a selection of choral arrangements from films such as Frozen, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Charm, and great composers such as Elton John, Hans Zimmer, Alan Menken, Lin-Manuel Miranda, John Lennon and iconic bands like Journey and ABBA. “This has been the year of theater, of musicals. I am happy and exhausted, and also doing what I like the most. This year I end up doing theater and I hope the next one too”.
— The work seeks to highlight values and also draw attention to caring for the environment.
— That’s right, several topics are touched upon, such as the fact that your soul, your life is yours and you have to enjoy it, and the issue of protecting nature is also touched upon, so that the habitat of the different species is not violated. There are several things, but basically it is to highlight being able to enjoy what one has and be grateful to the maximum that it is a little bit of what happens to Elisa, my character.
— Precisely, a few weeks ago, you said that you have enjoyed every stage of your life, chronologically speaking.
— Yes, because there are people who care a lot about age and that has never been a problem for me. I have always been happy with my age. I have enjoyed it and always try to do it. For me, that is a matter of decision, happiness is a matter of decision, if you want to be happy, you have to decide to be. If you want to have a good day, you are going to decide to have it because whatever is going to happen around you, even if they are bad things, you are going to take it as learning. I like to decide that I am going to have a good day. I’ve always had a good time, I still enjoy my age and as the years go by, because when you’re young you can’t appreciate it so much, but as I get older, let’s say, (smiles) I want to give more of myself, I want to do all the best i can. Ultimately, you end up feeling really good about yourself. In the end, what I am experiencing now, in these years, is even better than it was when I was younger and I feel happier with myself, with what I do, with my work, with how I face things.
— And how did you experience the theatrical debut of your young son, Mikael (17)?
— He is a boy who has always wanted to be an actor, since he was little he was very clear that he wanted to be an actor, dancer, singer, pianist and businessman. So now he has the opportunity to be an actor, but it is the beginning of his career. It’s very moving to see him act.
