The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, posthumously awarded the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the 5th and 6th convocations, Alexei Zhuravko, with the medal “For Courage”.
“Awarded Alexei Zhuravko with the medal “For Courage”. Posthumously,” Pushilin emphasized in his Telegram channel on Sunday, September 25th. He also pointed out that Zhuravko repeatedly visited the Donetsk People’s Republic.
“Everyone who knew Alexei Zhuravko could not but admire the fortitude of this courageous man. Among the very few deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, in 2014 he sided with the Donbass and all these years he has been to the republic many times, sharing our aspirations and supporting us,” the head of the DPR wrote.
Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that Ukrainian militants fired at a hotel in Kherson, where civilians lived. According to emergency services, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) launched a missile attack on the building from the American HIMARS Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS).
Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the military-civilian administration of the Kherson region, confirmed that a politician, a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksiy Zhuravko, was killed as a result of the strike.
On the same day, the LPR announced Ukrainian provocations in social networks with calls for shelling of polling stations.
The day before, it was reported about the resumption of shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the center of Donetsk and Gorlovka. Local residents believe that the resumption of shelling is connected with the desire on the part of Ukraine to intimidate residents participating in the ongoing referendum on joining the Russian Federation.
Prior to that, on September 23, the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to destroy a polling station in the Zaporozhye region by shelling. It was clarified that six artillery strikes were recorded on the village of Balki, in the area where the polling station formed earlier on September 27 is located. the head of the military-civilian administration of Energodar in the Zaporozhye region, Alexander Volga, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had chosen polling stations in the city as their target.
In the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, referendums on joining the Russian Federation are being held from September 23 to 27.
Russia is conducting a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
