Eiffel Tower in the dark starting at 11.45pm and no longer at 1am. The energy saving plan announced by the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, was activated last night, which plans to turn off the lights of the ‘iron lady’ just over an hour earlier than what has been done so far, coinciding with the exit of the last visitors.
In addition, to save money, no more sparkle at midnight and one in the morning: the 40 kilometers of garlands and the 20 thousand light bulbs that make the tower shine every hour in all its 330 meters high are now activated at 11 pm for the last time.
The symbolic monument of Paris is not the only one affected by the energy sobriety measure: at 10 pm the lights of the municipal museums and district town halls go out, while the pyramid of the Louvre has ceased to be illuminated a few days ago at 11 pm. And others may follow in the coming weeks.
