The Aragon weekend was completely to be forgotten for Fabio Quartararo. The Frenchman from Yamaha, who on the Spanish track seemed to have the pace to compete almost on an equal footing with the two Ducatis of Pecco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini, on the other hand saw his race finish after just a few corners. The contact with the rear of the bike driven by Marc Marquez, caused by a sudden tail of the Spaniard, made the reigning world champion fly to the ground, who was fortunately dodged by all the other bikes that followed him, averting a possible tragedy.
The regret for the zero points gained, however, was not the only pain that the French # 20 had to face. In fact, Quartararo reported some in the fall painful abrasions all over the chest who forced him to visit the medical center of the circuit, where the necessary medications were applied. The Yamaha rider himself then tried to play down the situation by publishing a photo of him in which you can see his chest covered with gauze to treat his injuries. But how was it possible for the Diablo to get all these bruises? Initially, as hypothesized by Yamaha itself, it was thought that the burns were due to the fact that the Frenchman, in the fall, had been hit by his own bike.
Speaking with the media of his country, however – as confirmed by the journalist Thomas Baujard – Quartararo explained how the his suit is “Open during the slide”. This led him to rub his skin on the asphalt. However, it was not the first occasion in which the suit of the transalpine champion became the protagonist: last year, in the Barcelona race, Quartararo was in fact penalized for having covered the last laps of the race with the suit open. An episode that had sparked much controversy in the following days.
