Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian was photographed at the coffin with the body of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain at the Palace of Westminster in London, which is a violation of the established rules for public farewell to the monarch. This was reported on September 18 by the British tabloid newspaper The Sun.
According to the publication, Khachaturian, who came to the Westminster Hall of the palace of the same name on Sunday, was photographed on the phone by one of his assistants against the background of the coffin with the body of Elizabeth II draped with the British flag.
The incident sparked outrage from the public. According to the newspaper, this was the first case of violation of the ban on photography during the farewell to the queen.
Earlier Wednesday, the UK Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport recommended that those wishing to say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II who died on September 8 no longer stand in line. They noted that the waiting time in line is already 13.5 hours and may increase.
On September 14, the funeral procession began, during which the coffin with the body of Elizabeth II was taken to the Palace of Westminster, where the ceremony of public farewell to the Queen is taking place. It started at 17:00 (19:00 Moscow time) on September 14 and will last until 06:30 (08:30 Moscow time) on September 19.
For VIPs, including British parliamentarians and foreign leaders, a separate entrance to the palace is open.
Elizabeth II died on September 8 at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The new king was her eldest son, Prince Charles, who took the name Charles III.
Elizabeth II reigned for over 70 years and became the longest-reigning and oldest monarch in British history.
