56% of the business community defends a change in the tax system to open new job vacancies, says CNI survey
search of CNI (National Confederation of Industry) carried out with businessmen points out that, to stimulate job creation, the next government should focus on tax reform. The theme was created by 58% of respondents.
High taxes and lack of professional qualifications are also seen as bottlenecks to expand job opportunities in the country. In the opinion of 48% of executives, it is necessary to reduce payroll taxes. 35% also pointed out, among the main measures to create jobs, the need to strengthen professional training.
The CNI Agenda of Priorities survey, commissioned to FSB Pesquisa, interviewed 1,001 executives from small, medium and large industrial companies from all regions of the country. The interviews, conducted by telephone, were carried out from August 10 to 24, 2022. Here is the intact (1 MB).
“The country’s complex and onerous tax collection system inhibits production in all economic sectors and makes it difficult for Brazilians to generate jobs and income”says the president of the CNI, Robson Braga de Andrade.
“Tax reform is essential to accelerate the pace of economic growth and, therefore, should be a priority for the next government”, said.
According to the entrepreneurs interviewed by the survey, they still appear as relevant measures for job creation: releasing credit for companies to invest and/or expand their productive capacity (29%); and carry out further improvements in labor legislation (25%).
The percentages are the sum total of respondents who cited the measure as the 1st and 2nd most important.
PRIORITIES
The questionnaire, in addition to questions related to job creation and other important issues for the growth of the economy, also addresses Health, Education and Safety. For 1 in 3 entrepreneurs, the next president must prioritize education.
The 2nd most cited topic to be the government’s priority from 2023 was public health (26%) and in 3rd position appears economic growth, having been pointed out by 20% of the interviewees as the 1st or 2nd main measure. Then, tax reductions (14%) and job creation (12%).
Among the possible ways to improve education in the country, most entrepreneurs pointed out that, among the different levels of training, the ones that most need the gaze of the public authorities are technical education (34%) and basic education (32%). .
Then comes literacy, with a total of 18%. The other levels of education, such as secondary education, higher education and postgraduate education, add up to 14%.
“The research shows that there is a demand from the business sector for greater investment in technical education, which is more aligned with the needs of the labor market”explains the manager of Economic Analysis at CNI, Marcelo Azevedo.
“Another point is the concern of executives with the quality of education. Faced with an increasingly technological industry, education needs to keep up with the skills required by companies”.
