Slowly, gradually, but also finally: Volvo is trying to return to normal in China after temporarily closing the doors of its production plant in Chengdu, which is why it decided to restart assembly activities at the plant. A resumption of production for the moment limited: a spokesperson for the Swedish brand announced that Volvo has restarted with a single daily shift in Chengdu, but will continue to evaluate how the situation will evolve in the near future with the aim of returning to full capacity.
The Coronavirus pandemic, or rather i lockdown imposed by the local government on the basis of the pandemic situation. The closing of the doors of the Chengdu site was ordered on 1 September, which means that the restart of the activities came after about ten days of production stoppage. So good news for Volvo and especially for i S60L and XC60 models, which are built in Chengdu. The city located in southwest China, in addition to being the capital of the Sichuan province and a sub-provincial city, ordered the lockdown for all its more than 21.2 million inhabitants on September 1st: Volvo had been forced to adapt to this decision, but is now ready to go full force again.
