The coffin will be moved by six Balmoral Castle rangers from the Palace of Westminster
The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II of England will be held on September 19 at 11:00 a.m. in Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace reported in a note. The day has been declared a holiday.
The coffin will be transferred by six Balmoral Castle rangers from the Palace of Westminster and then the funeral procession will travel to Wellington Arch and then to Windsor and St. George’s Chapel for burial, a journey that will last about six hours.
Next Monday, September 12, King Charles will travel to Edinburgh to participate in a funeral procession between Holyroodhouse and the Cathedral of Sant’Egidio in the Scottish capital. The coffin will be adorned with the Crown of Scotland.
In this cathedral, the body of the famous queen will be installed in a burning chapel open to the public. Already on Tuesday he will be transferred to Edinburgh airport where he will be fired with honors and from there to the base of the British Royal Air Force in Northolt.
The coffin will then travel to Buckingham Palace, specifically to the Ballroom for an act with the king and queen consort. An Imperial State Wreath of Flowers will be placed on the coffin on Wednesday and it will be carried by artillery cart to the Palace of Westminster with the king and other members of the royal family accompanying it on foot.
The burning chapel will be installed for the public visit that same afternoon.
Details of the new monarch’s agenda have also been revealed, who will travel to Northern Ireland on Tuesday, September 13, and to Wales on September 16.
