ADuring a visit to Kyiv, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock confirmed that the Ukrainians “can continue to rely on us”. After her arrival in the Ukrainian capital, she said that she wanted to show “that we will continue to support Ukraine as long as it is necessary – with the supply of weapons, with humanitarian and financial support”.
Baerbock has traveled to Ukraine for the second time since the Russian attack began. The Ukrainians resisted the Russian aggression “not only to defend their human right to peace and freedom, but also to defend our European peace order,” she said.
“A little more security”
In order to “provide a little protection” where Russian troops could be pushed back by the Ukrainian armed forces, Germany supported the Ukrainian authorities in clearing mines and warfare agents.
The German Foreign Minister stated that in places where “these insidious weapons continue to threaten the lives of children, women and families every day, the projects we support ensure a little more freedom and security”.
According to the German Foreign Minister, the Russian ruler Vladimir Putin is counting on “that we tire of sympathizing with the suffering of Ukraine”. Putin believes “that he can divide our societies with lies and blackmail us with energy supplies”.
He apparently hopes in this way to rob Germans and other Western societies of their will to “defend us against this brutal attack on the values of all of us”. This calculation by Putin should not and will not work out: “Because the whole of Europe knows that Ukraine is defending our peace order.”
