As the military architect of King Louis XIV, Vauban envisioned an iron belt to protect the country: a hundred impregnable citadels from Besançon to the Ile de Ré. In each work, the architect reinvented himself to take into account the local geography and landscape. Today, many of these constructions remain key landmarks of France. We went to learn about the legacy of this genius who left a lasting mark on the country.
