Sometimes the best time is not enough. Charles Leclerc is well aware of this, as he has achieved many pole positions during the season but fewer wins than he would have hoped for. Today the Monegasque set the reference time in the second free practice session of the Dutch Grand Prix, but he is still not satisfied.
Thanks to a time of 1’12 “345, the Ferrari driver climbed to the top of the time list, ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz Jr. by just 4 thousandths of a second.
Ferrari seems to be much more at ease on the Dutch track than Spa-Francorchamps, a track on which he had shown a huge gap in performance from Max Verstappen’s Red Bull.
Today the Dutchman did not go beyond the eighth time, almost 7 tenths of a second behind the Reds. Leclerc, however, is still not happy with the balance of his F1-75, which is why he thinks that, with the right corrections, he will be able to find even more performance tomorrow.
“Today went better than last week. However, we are all close, it will be a complicated race, but we will try to improve. I am not yet comfortable with the balance and we hope to take the right steps tomorrow to improve.”

Without going into too much into the merits, Leclerc stated that what bothers him while driving is the behavior of his car in the corners. The accentuated understeer makes him waste time both entering and exiting corners, but he is confident he can improve the situation in view of tomorrow’s qualifying.
“In general, the balance of my car was complicated, there was a lot of understeer, I didn’t turn the car well and I had tugs at the exit because I couldn’t get the car to turn well. Having said that, I am confident, I think we can improve even more tomorrow.” , concluded the Ferrari driver.
