One of the details that has been released in recent days has to do with the chronic illness that afflicts the queen.
What is the illness that Letizia suffers from?
According to El País Semanal and the Spanish magazine Lecturas, Letizia suffers from a disease known as metatarsalgia, a condition that causes severe pain in the feet.
The Mayo Clinic portal indicates that it is “a condition that causes pain and inflammation in the ball of the foot (metatarsal)”.
It can be caused, according to the same portal, by foot deformities, by wearing shoes that are too tight or large, and even by activities such as running and jumping.

Spanish media assure that the queen’s metatarsalgia may have developed from excessive use of heels, essential shoes in your wardrobe.
In this regard, the Mayo Clinic explains that the use of high-heeled shoes transfers additional weight to the front of the foot, being a frequent cause of metatarsalgia.

And it is that, if not treated in time, the disease suffered by the queen consort can trigger worse scenarios. For example, it can cause more severe pain in the knees or lower back.
Although heels can trigger the disease, they are still an important part of Queen Letizia’s wardrobe. Although in recent years she has opted for other types of shoes and for using a platform that allows her to resist heels.
