The program of the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during the visit to the Zaporozhye NPP is designed for one day. This was announced on Tuesday, August 30, by the head of the military-civilian administration (MCA) of the Zaporozhye region, Evgeny Balitsky.
“The program of the visit is designed for one day. So far it has been announced (the purpose of the mission – Ed.) – “to get acquainted with the work of the station.” For us, this is a vague concept,” he said.
The head of the Zaporozhye CAA noted that the delegation will visit the territory of the nuclear power plant through Vasilievka, which is located near the line of contact, and then go to Energodar. In the evening of the same day, the IAEA mission will have to leave.
Balitsky believes that the experts will inspect the two operating reactors, the waste storage and the cooling system.
“We are ready to show the places of arrival. We are ready to show fragments that are very different: Soviet-style ones fired by Grads, Hurricanes, and the M777 howitzer. Show the drones, whose production they are, where and how they fell,” he added.
On the same day, Balitsky said that the authorities of the Zaporozhye region did not have any special hopes for the visit of the IAEA mission to the ZNPP.
Earlier on Tuesday, Pavel Zavalny, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy, told Izvestia that during the visit of the IAEA mission to the ZNPP there is a risk of provocations from Ukraine.
Also on August 30, it became known that about a dozen employees of the IAEA secretariat were included in the mission to the ZNPP. A delegation is expected to visit the site this week.
Zaporozhye NPP was taken under the protection of Russian forces as part of a special operation to protect Donbass. As Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, noted on August 11, the withdrawal of the Russian military from the facility could turn into a disaster, since Kyiv could use the station for monstrous provocations.
