Aug 29 (Reuters) – A BTG/FSB poll released on Monday showed that, among voters receiving Auxílio Brasil, boosted by the federal government until the end of this election year, the majority prefers former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. (EN) to the current president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) at Palácio do Planalto from January 1 next year.
According to a survey by the FSB Pesquisa, commissioned by the bank BTG Pactual, among those receiving the benefit, 58% intend to vote for Lula, up from 52% a week ago, while 24% opt for Bolsonaro, compared to 31% last week. Among those who do not receive, but live with someone who does, 62% prefer the PT, the same level as a week ago, and 24% choose the current president, compared to 27%.
The general poll showed a 7 percentage point advantage for Lula over Bolsonaro in the first round and was carried out between August 26 and 28, by telephone, with 2,000 people, and the margin of error is 2 percentage points.
CIRO SEES WEAK LULA, THEN DELETES
PDT candidate Ciro Gomes made a post on his Twitter account questioning Lula’s physical and mental ability to deal with what he called the “bloodthirsty right”, but later deleted the post.
“Do they not understand that Lula is increasingly weak – physically, psychologically and theoretically – to face the bloodthirsty right?”, asks the publication, later deleted.
In an apparent response, Lula’s campaign posted on the former president’s Twitter account: “Yesterday, at the Band debate, Lula treated Ciro Gomes with respect.” The publication was accompanied by a video of the debate in which Lula says he has “deep respect” for the pedestrian and is “grateful” for the role that Ciro played in his government when he was minister.
