The Electoral Justice of Brazil determined this Wednesday that the videos in which the President Jair Bolsonaro attacks, without evidence, the reliability of the country’s Brazilian electoral system during a meeting with a group of foreign ambassadors last July.
The decision was made by Judge Mauro Campbell Marques, of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), who determined that the videos be removed from the internet within 24 hours by social media platforms, such as Facebook and YouTube, and the state channel EBC .

For Campbell Marques, Bolsonaro’s statement to ambassadors “seems to configure abuse in the exercise of freedom of expression” and can affect the development of the elections by “disseminating false information” related to the voting system.
“Far from adopting a position of collaboration with the improvement of the electoral system, the represented insists on deliberately disclosing untrue facts by affirming that there are flaws in the system of carrying out and counting votes in Brazil,” the magistrate affirmed in his decision.
At the same time, the Attorney General’s Office began a preliminary analysis to determine if Bolsonaro committed a crime, but ruled out the establishment of a formal investigation for the time being.

The client insists on deliberately disclosing untrue facts
The leader of the Brazilian extreme right, candidate for re-election, gathered foreign ambassadors last July in the official residence of the Presidency, to formulate harsh criticism of electoral justice, whose cleanliness and transparency he once again questioned.
In that appointment, the president dedicated 45 minutes to his campaign to disqualify the electronic ballot boxes that have been used in the country since 1996, without there having been a single complaint of fraud since then.

In his presentation to the diplomats, Bolsonaro also suggested that some members of the TSE “conspire” to favor former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the favorite to win the elections on October 2, in the elections next October.
The appointment with the ambassadors generated a huge wave of criticism of the president, both in the opposition as well as in the Electoral Justice and Parliament, which defended the Brazilian institutions in the face of what came to be considered an “attack on democracy.”
