The Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) fired 40 shells from the Grad multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) in Horlivka. This was announced on August 25 by the representative office of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire Regime (JCCC).
“Fishes were fired from the side of the VFU in the following directions: 17:55 — the settlement of Nikolaevka Vtoraya — the settlement of Gorlovka (Kalinin district): 40 rockets were fired from the BM-21 Grad,” the message on the Telegram channel says.
Earlier in the day, the DPR office at the JCCC reported that Ukrainian neo-Nazis had shelled Gorlovka with NATO-style shells.
Later, the mayor of the city, Ivan Prikhodko, said that a civilian was killed as a result of the shelling, and two more children were wounded.
On August 24, it was reported that the armed formations of Ukraine fired 18 shells at Gorlovka in half an hour. The JCCC clarified that at 07:20 10 shells were fired at Horlivka, then at 07:50 VFU fired five more shells. Two minutes later, the shelling was repeated – Ukrainian militants struck Gorlovka with three shells. A civilian died.
Before that, on August 22, the VFU shelled Gorlovka twice in the morning from 152-millimeter artillery, firing 15 shells. As a result, two civilians were killed during the shelling. In addition, another person was injured.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
