Politico: Judge Gives Paul Pelosi 8 Hours of Corrective Labor in Court and Fine for Car Accident
The husband of the speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, 82-year-old Paul Pelosi, was put on trial after he arranged a road accident while intoxicated. This is reported Politico.
The case against Pelosi was brought after his new Porsche collided with a Jeep in May. The police recorded the excess of the permissible level of alcohol in his blood. Neither Pelosi nor the driver of the Jeep were seriously injured, however, Pelosi was charged with two counts – an accident resulting in injuries and drunk driving resulting in injuries.
The meeting was held in California on Tuesday 23 August. Pelosi was sentenced to five days in prison, compensation and a fine of about 6.8 thousand dollars, three years of probation, and eight hours of work in court. Given the time spent in custody and Pelosi’s good behavior, the judge agreed to compensate for the jail time with eight hours of court work.
In addition, Pelosi will be required to attend a three-month course on the dangers of drunk driving, and his car will be equipped with a special device to test the driver’s breath for alcohol.
Paul Pelosi was charged with drunk driving in June by the Napa County Supreme Court in California, who was arrested on May 29. Pelosi was released on $5,000 bail.
In February, the son of a politician Paul Pelosi Jr. was involved in a fraudulent real estate scheme. During the investigation of the case of building inspector Bernie Curran, his correspondence with a certain Client 9 was found, who transferred fifteen hundred dollars to a charitable account in order to allegedly “solve problems with a wretched rooming house in San Francisco.” Later it turned out that the building, the state of which Curran was supposed to close his eyes to, belongs to Paul Pelosi and got his property from his ex-girlfriend.
